Antibiotics Awareness Week 2020
In November 2020 Pint of Science Thailand ran a special event for Antibiotic Awareness Week!
Supported by the World Health Organization, Antibiotic Awareness Week aims to raise awareness of our use of antibiotics not just in medicine, but in everyday life. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi. AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines making infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death. As a result, the medicines become ineffective and infections persist in the body, increasing the risk of spread to others.
In this Pint of Science special event that coincides with the Thailand Antibiotic Awareness Week (AAW), we had three AMR experts to us about different aspects AMR in Thailand.
